Deborah wakes up to find herself in the company of Sister Stone, a nun who has lost her faith in God after seeing the devastation the bomb has brought.
She is in charge of a group of nuns who have turned their backs on God and are now indulging in whatever they want to do, drugs, drink, orgies and murder.
Deborah tells Sister Stone her story and Sister Stone promises to kill Simon Cross if she ever encounters him.
Deborah settles into life at the Black Abbey.
