14.7 Recap

14.7
The Cross brothers discover a peaceful little village in which all of the villagers take pride in their homes and community.
This is a breath of fresh air for Simon who has grown up in squalid foster homes.
The village’s church is spectacular, but in a state of neglect.
Simon, with his newfound faith, is furious about this.
He berates the priest about it and begins cleaning it himself.
Simon becomes part of the community – telling Wayne to hide out while he figures out the village and its inhabitants.
Simon begins to suspect that the priest, Reverend Sanders, is up to something unsavoury.
He drugs Sanders and investigates the priest’s living quarters.
In the basement, he finds a network of tunnels and a young boy imprisoned in a cage.
The boy has been abused.
Simon frees him and promises him that he will look after him.
Simon and Wayne attempt to cut the devil out of Sanders, but he dies before they succeed.
The brothers take over the church, with Simon being out in public and Wayne hiding behind the scenes.
Simon gets Wayne to lock him in the basement cage and cut the devil out of him for forty days and nights.
He then returns the favour.
They begin to do this for other sinners too, but no one survives until Deborah years later.
The village becomes known as Serenity at Simon’s recommendation.
The brothers begin to switch roles, taking turns to hide out in the secret rooms in the basement.
The boy in the cage is one of the only villagers who knows.
The boy they freed from the cage becomes Preacher Kelly.
