Laverick opens a chest freezer and reveals a frozen baby.
He tells Nicol that the baby is his son, Martin, who died when he was a few days old.
He explains that he has to finish his research in order to bring Martin back to life.
Nicol sympathises with his plight but tells him that cannot work on this project any longer.
